Voters in Dallas may be asked if they want to give their council members a pay raise — and a significant one at that.The Dallas City Council on Wednesday debated a recommendation to change the pay structure through a charter amendment, which would require voter approval.Council members currently make $60,000 a year. ""I also don't see the voters saying, ‘You're going to get double the money,’" said Councilmember Omar Narvaez.Councilmember Kathy Stewart proposed a more moderate increase in line with the consumer price index."It's $78,973.78, which is more easily rounded up to $80,000," she said.Councilman Paul Ridley opposed any raise in part due to the fact that the acting city manager has asked all department heads to cut their budgets by 6%.
