May 12 is the deadline to register to vote in the special election primary for the late Don Young’s vacant seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

According to the Alaska Division of Elections, just over 5% of the more than half-million ballots mailed out have been received by the state.

While all registered voters will receive a mail-in ballot, voters will also have an opportunity to cast a ballot in-person at five spots around the state, including the elections office in Fairbanks. That office is located at the State of Alaska Fairbanks Regional Office Building on 7th avenue near downtown.
