Nighthawks beat Madison, now have two 8-2 wins and have a chance to reach tournament's semifinals with a victory today
One of the two nagging questions for Del Norte High baseball coach Rielly Embrey may be answering itself. Before Tuesday, Embrey was not sure if he had any answers.Well, the hitting for a team that came into Tuesday’s second pool-play game in the Classic Division of the Lions Tournament with a .237 batting average seems different.
“The guys have worked really hard to fix their approach at the plate,’’ Embrey said. “We’re now more comfortable in our own skin.’’As they did in the first game Monday against San Pedro, the Nighthawks scored four runs in the first inning, which was more than enough for starting pitcher Carson Reese, one of two quality starters for Embrey this season.
“Games are a lot more fun now that we’re hitting and scoring runs,’’ Strauch said. “There is no better feeling than putting up runs.“Just keep the offense going and see where it takes us.’’
