Another day, another major company unveils vague plans to reduce its carbon emissions, writes AntonyMCurrie. Read why Delta’s new ambitions are, for now, just grand pledges that lack important detail and accountability:

Delta Air Lines on Feb. 14 committed to spending $1 billion over the next 10 years to “mitigate all emissions from its global business.”

The company plans to explore ways to reduce and remove its carbon emissions both on its own and with a range of stakeholders from employees to suppliers to customers to rivals to investors. In a statement Chief Executive Ed Bastian said there is “no challenge we face that is in greater need of innovation than environmental sustainability, and we know there is no single solution.” He also said the company is “digging deep into the issues, examining every corner of our business, engaging experts, building coalitions, fostering partnerships and driving innovation.”
