Democrats are hoping to hold their seat in North Carolina while flipping New Hampshire's governor's office in November.
Democrats and Republicans are both hoping to hold one seat and flip another in the nation's two most competitive governor's races this year. There are two tossup gubernatorial elections, according to the Cook Political Report's most recent ratings: North Carolina and New Hampshire. Both will be open seats vacated by Democratic Governor Roy Cooper and Republican Governor Chris Sununu, respectively.
There isn't a ton of recent polling on the race in New Hampshire, but Emerson College surveys from last August and November show Ayotte leading both Democratic candidates. In August, the former senator was 9 points ahead of Craig and led 13 points over Warmington. Her advantage appears to have shrunk by November, although she still held both leads, with 4 points over Craig and 8 points over Warmington.
