The director of the 1994 version of 'The Crow,' Alex Proyas, is criticizing the upcoming reboot, noting that 'Brandon Lee died' making the original version.
Filmmaker Alex Proyas said the 1994 film "was finished as a testament to lost brilliance and tragic loss.""THE CROW is not just a movie," Proyas wrote. "Brandon Lee died making it, and it was finished as a testament to his lost brilliance and tragic loss. It is his legacy. That's how it should remain.""I really don't get any joy from seeing negativity about any fellow work," he wrote.
A representative for Sanders declined to comment on Proyas' statement. A rep for Lionsgate, which is distributing the film, didn't immediately respond to EW's request for comment.also spawned three sequels before being rebooted, each with new characters taking on the mantle of the Crow: the 1996 theatrical sequeltrailer teases what Anthony Hopkins' robot can really do
