Kershaw has been sidelined for three weeks with a lower back injury, but he has started a throwing program and is hopeful he can return to the mound soon.
PHOENIX — Since he was sidelined by a back injury for the first time during the 2016 season, Clayton Kershaw has unfortunately become well-versed on the subject.
“Being hurt is just not what I signed up for. I don’t like doing it. It’s not fun. But hopefully, I’ll get this one out of the way and I’ll be good to go for the rest of the year.” “I think initially I didn’t want to admit I was hurt,” Kershaw said Thursday. But an epidural injection wasn’t enough to address the injury.
Kershaw joined the Dodgers in Arizona after resting at home over the past week. He said he started throwing a few days ago and was stretched out to 90 feet during his session before Thursday’s game at Chase Field. He is hopeful that he could advance to throwing off a mound next week, though he would not offer an estimate for how much longer he might be sidelined.
