Dodger first baseman Freddie Freeman was born and raised in California, but both his parents were born in Canada.
In an interview posted by the Dodgers on Monday, Freeman explained that both his parents were born in Canada — his father in Ontario and his mother, Rosemary Freeman, in a city just outside of Toronto. "I played for Team Canada for a very heartfelt reason for me and my family," an emotional Freeman said.
"So Dodgers fans, when you get to know me, pretty much everything I do is for my mom and this is what I feel is right." "I just hope she’s proud of me. Twenty-three years it never goes away. That’s all I want. I hope she’s smiling down."
