Affected bags of pet food are being recalled in four southern states.
Bags of a popular pet food are being recalled because they may contain loose metal pieces, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced.Bags of dry dog kibble sold under the name 'Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food' and produced by Mars Petcare US are currently subject to a voluntary recall after they were found to contain pieces of metal. According to the company, 315 bags of the 44-pound size product are affected.
Newsweek contacted the Pedigree division of Mars Petcare US via the contact form on its website outside of normal working hours for comment.No reports of injury or illness to pets have been reported regarding the product, the company has confirmed. 'If you believe your pet has consumed the affected product, you should monitor for unusual behavior and contact a veterinarian in the event of any concerns,' the recall notice reads.
