Parton said she was 'shocked' to hear of Judd's death and that they had been 'very close.'
"We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory," Ashley and Wynonna Judd said in the statement.At the Country Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Wednesday, an emotional Ashley Judd said she was sorry her mother hadn't been able to"hang on until today."
"Your esteem for her and regard for her really penetrated her heart, and it was your affection for her that did keep her going in these last few years," she said.
