Donovan Solano continues to round into playing shape.
In Triple-A El Paso’s 9-2 loss at Tacoma on Saturday, the 36-year-old infielder went 1-for-4 while playing all nine innings at second base. Solano is hitting .300/.400/.500 with a homer, double and four RBIs in six games since signing a minor league deal with the Padres. He has played two games at first base, two games at second and two at DH. Solano is a career .279/.334/.377 hitter across parts of 10 years in the majors.
Wichita 5, Missions 3: RHP Ryan Bergert struck out five but allowed three runs on seven hits in 4⅓ innings in the loss. RHP Woo-Suk Go struck out two, walked one and allowed one hit in 1⅓ scoreless innings. 2B Bryan De La Cruz drove in two runs on two hits. He also singled. RF Cole Cummings went 2-for-3 with a double and two steals.
Great Lakes 14, TinCaps 3: RHP Dylan Lesko allowed six runs on three hits, six walks and a hit batter in 2⅔ innings in the start. C Ethan Salas 3B Devin Ortiz and LF Tyler Robertson all walked twice. The TinCaps had three hits, all singles. LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE Rancho Cucamonga 7, Storm 4: 1B Romeo Sanabria went 1-for-1 with three walks, an RBI and a run scored. LF Ryan Wilson and 3B Wyatt Hoffman both doubled. SS Leodalis De Vries went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.
