An emotional Drew Carey sobbed as he remembered his engagement to Amie Harwick, which he described as the “beautiful, great, best relationship of my life.”
Harwick, 38, a sex therapist and mental health advocate, was found unresponsive outside her home in Hollywood Hills and was taken to a hospital, where she died Feb. 15. Gareth Pursehouse, her ex-boyfriend, was arrested and charged with murder and first-degree residential burglary after allegedly throwing her over a balcony.
Carey, 61, told listeners that the two remained close, despite the end of their relationship in 2018 and recalled making a playlist of their favorite songs, which he played Friday. The tracks included the Four Seasons’ “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” and The Rascals’ “A Girl Like You,”“We would sing the words in each other’s ears. We would hold each other and dance in the kitchen to it and slow dance in the bathroom to it, and the office, living room or where we were.
“I could never hear these songs again without thinking of her, so this next set is for Amie Harwick, a beautiful person who didn’t deserve to die like she did,” he added.
