The 24-year-old Paterson man was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death.

Officers were called to Lincoln Avenue at 6:38 a.m. on Monday and found 83-year-old Angela Sanzari, of Hawthorne, lying in the road between Dixie Avenue and Parker Avenue, according to a statement from the. Sanzari was rushed to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood where she was pronounced dead. Investigators said Sanzari was hit by a dark-colored, older-model Honda CRV that was traveling north on Lincoln Avenue as she was crossing the road, the office said. A description of the vehicle was released Tuesday as detectives sought a suspect.
On Wednesday, Glen Rock Police Sgt. Michael Trover stopped a 2007 Honda CRV driven by David Romero, 24, of Paterson and authorities alleged he had struck Sanzari, officials said. Romero was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, endangering an injured victim, hindering apprehension as well as multiple motor vehicle summonses, the office said. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
