Driver fatally strikes pedestrian in San Marcos [Breaking]

An SUV driver struck and fatally injured a pedestrian Friday night in San Marcos, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

It happened about 8:20 p.m. at Barham Drive and Mission Road, just west of Nordahl Road and south of state Route 78, San Diego sheriff’s Lt. Scott Roller said. The victim was a woman, but no other details about her were immediately available, Roller said. She apparently stepped off a curb and into the path of the SUV.

Deputies evaluated the driver but determined he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Roller said.
