Electronic Arts Inc. shares rallied in the extended session Tuesday after the videogame publisher reported bookings and revenue that topped Wall Street’s expectations.
EA EA shares surged 5% after hours, following a 0.3% decline in the regular session to close at $125.41. At Tuesday’s close, the stock was up 2.6% year to date , compared with a 16% rise in the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index COMP , and a 7.5% advance by the S&P 500 index SPX . “EA delivered a strong Q4 with record net bookings, up 11% year over year, demonstrating the strength of our business,” said Andrew Wilson, EA chief executive, in a statement. “We’re excited to continue our momentum, including the highly anticipated launch of EA Sports FC later this year.”
“Record live-services performance and increased engagement, particularly from our EA Sports FIFA franchise, drove better-than-expected Q4 net bookings, capping a strong finish to the fiscal year,” said Chris Suh, EA’s CFO, in a statement. “Looking ahead, our teams remain disciplined in prioritizing the player experience as we continue to focus our investments on long-term growth.”
