The Eagles started preparations for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday at their practice facility in South Philadelphia.
Eagles cornerback Darius Slay breaks up a pass intended for Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton. Slay suffered a groin injury in the third quarter Sunday and was not on the practice field Wednesday.returned to the practice field in preparation for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and it appears as if they could be without three of their starters.
Slay, meanwhile, has not played a full game since Week 2. He had been dealing with an injury to the same knee he had surgically repaired late last season, but Sunday against the Bengals he left the game with a groin injury. He was not on the practice field Wednesday. Isaiah Rodgers has done an outstanding job replacing Slay and he created a turnover in the win over the Bengals by deflecting a Joe Burrow pass to safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson for an interception.
Wide receiver/punt returner Britian Covey, on IR with a fractured shoulder blade, is eligible to return Sunday, but is likely to miss more time. He was working off to the side with trainers Sunday. In other news, the Eagles signed offensive lineman Braeden Daniels to their practice squad. Daniels, 6-4 and 300 pounds, was a fourth-round pick by the Commanders in 2023, but he has never appeared in a game. Since being drafted, he has spent time with Washington, Houston and the Los Angeles Chargers. Daniels replaces defensive tackle Siaki Ika, who was released from the practice squad Tuesday.The 2-6 Jaguars will be without No.
