FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Friday, May 27 marked the start of early in-person voting in the primary election to fill the late-Don Young’s vacant seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In the Alaskan Interior, the only place to vote in-person is the State of Alaska Fairbanks Regional Office Building on 7th avenue in Fairbanks. Absentee in-person voting is also available at this location, and a number of residents showed up to cast their ballots.According to the Alaska Division of Elections, as of Wednesday afternoon, out of more than half a million ballots mailed out across the state, roughly 17.5% have been filled out and returned.The deadline to file to run in the regular election primary is June 1.
