's copyright trial in New York City — which ended on Thursday, May 4 with Sheeran found not guilty — affected the singer's professionalThe memorial service for Sheeran's paternal grandmother, 98-year-old Anne "Nancy" Sheeran , was held on May 3 at St Patrick's Church in Monaseed, a small town in the Irish county of Wexford.

Sheeran's father added that his son would only be "comforted by the fact that he was able to spend some precious time alone with his grandma just a month ago." Though he wasn't present on-site, the British tabloid reports that the singer "is believed to have tuned in online" to watch his late grandma's funeral. Sheeran's grandmother famously served as the main inspiration for the singer's 2017 song “Nancy Mulligan.
