When you're driving and see those lights flashing behind you, it usually means you've got a ticket coming. That may not be the case in Edgewood, Texas, this Thanksgiving.
PUBLISHED 11:24 AM CST Nov. 24, 2022SAN ANTONIO — Edgewood ISD police have a servant mentality, taking the time to assist their community during the holidays.Galvan is from the West Side of San Antonio.As a sergeant in the Edgewood ISD Police Department, she believes the holidays are less about enforcement and more about serving.
So every year, district counselors identify families who may need assistance. Then the officers deliver.“Oh, thank you so much,” the woman responded. “Thank you! Thank you! I was in need of it. I’m so blessed.”“Thank you so much,” the woman said. “My girls are going to love it.” “So instead of giving you a ticket this morning, I’m going to give you turkey for Thanksgiving,” Sgt. Galvan said.Edgewood ISD PD does about 80 "turkey stops" leading up to Thanksgiving.
