That said, we’re not quite as concerned about the surplus as some people are, particularly the figures from the most recent school years, which were, to say the least, tumultuous. Amanda Brownson, associate executive director of policy at the Texas Association of School Business Officials, shared that budget forecasting has been a challenge for districts across the state lately. “Budgeting is more challenging in the world we face today in part due to COVID,” she said.
