Both candidates have served the county in different ways. A Yale Law School graduate, Briones, 41, was a Harris County Court at Law Judge until resigning to run for commissioner. Rice University graduate Chou, 31, meanwhile, worked for high-profile Democrats, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, before heading to the Harris County clerk’s office, where he helped pull off the now-banned drive-thru voting effort that saw historic turnout numbers.
