BEIJING—A mystery hung over the results of the team figure skating event here earlier this week after international sports officials said that the medals ceremony had been delayed over an unspecified legal issue.
The ceremony for the event scheduled for Tuesday evening in Beijing didn’t take place. Then, on Wednesday morning, the International Olympic Committee said that the “situation arose today at short notice which requires legal consultation with the ISU,” the International Skating Union. In Monday’s event, the ROC fought off the U.S. team, which couldn’t sustain its surprise first-day lead.
