Workers walked off the job claiming unsafe working conditions.
Employees with El Milagro, the tortilla factory in Little Village, gave more information on the settlement they reached with the company during a press conference on Thursday.This comes after they walked off the job citing unsafe working conditions.
"The law protects all workers' rights to organize for better working conditions and wages. That is what today's about," said Laura Garza, Arise Chicago Worker Center Director. Employees also filed complaints with the National Labor Relations Board saying the company used intimidation tactics to stop them from forming a union.The company will now have to communicate to all workers there that they have the right to unionize.
