Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Brent Spiner is best known for playing the android Lieutenant Commander Data, but he’s played numerous other androids and members of the Soong family. Spiner originated the role of Data in TNG's pilot episode "Encounter At Farpoint," immediately becoming a fan favorite. Created by the enigmatic cyberneticist Dr. Noonian Soong , Data possessed incredible physical abilities and computing power, but his only real desire was to become more human.

6 Arik Soong Introduced in Star Trek: Enterprise season 4, Arik Soong was a geneticist who had been imprisoned for working on Augments, a banned practice in the Federation after the Eugenics Wars. Arik rejected the notion that Augments were inherently evil like Khan Noonien Singh , and considered his genetically engineered experiments his children. Recruited by Captain Jonathan Archer to retrieve his Augment creations, Arik was stunned when he found them to be violent and unstable.

4 B-4 A prototype android that predated both Data and Lore, B-4 was introduced in the final TNG film, Star Trek: Nemesis. Far less sophisticated than his brothers, B-4 was easily manipulated. Data attempted to transfer his memories and knowledge to B-4, but that plan seemed to fail until the very final moments of the movie when he began to sing a song Data performed at the wedding of Will Riker and Deanna Troi .
