Sentence stems from local corruption probe.
A disgraced San Francisco building inspector caught in a web of corruption at City Hall will serve at least another year in prison when his sentence begins later this month.
Curran, 62, can serve that sentence concurrently with a one-year, one-day federal sentence after he pleaded guilty in July to two counts of accepting illegal payments from people whose buildings he inspected. He is due to report to federal prison on Oct. 12. Curran's additional sentence stems from local prosecutors' investigation into alleged corruption in the Department of Building Inspection and follows a yearslong federal investigation into City Hall corruption. Mohammed Nuru, the former head of the Department of Public Works, was sentenced to seven years in prison following the federal probe.
