"A facility is really what the old retirement centers used to be called. And they looked and smelled like a facility," Walsh said."In the contemporary senior living communities that are being built today, it is hospitality-oriented versus medically oriented."

Located at 3233 E. Camelback Road, Walsh said the site is an ideal location for a modern senior living community. A key trait for a modern seniors' community, he said, is accessibility to neighborhood amenities, especially walkable ones, like shopping. Independent living residences range from 694 square feet to 1,709 square feet and assisted living residences range from 498 square feet to 1,318 square feet. Amenities of the community include multiple dining venues, a putting green, a pool, cinema rooms, salons, a bar and outdoor space views of Camelback Mountain.

“Our approach to luxury senior living is to evoke high-end comfort with touches of home as a rental, not buy-in or life-plan,” said Clarendale Arcadia's Executive Directorin a statement.
