Get a first glance at Places + Faces first-ever Polaroid book
Over the past nine years, London creatives Ciesay and Soulz have been parlaying their shared passion for photography and social exploration into their brandWhat started out as a Tumblr slowly metamorphosed into a multifaceted and international producer of magazines, parties, and garments, all of which serve as purposefully low-key signifiers and souvenirs of a global scene.
Both men shoot their pictures on 35-millimeter film, but have always kept another analog option about their person too in the form of Polaroid. Now they have collected 50 of their favorite Polaroid portraits, all of them previously unpublished, for the first ever Places + Faces book. Speaking down the phone from New York, Ciesay said the 500-run edition will launch at an exhibition of the original Polaroids at Protein Studios in Shoreditch, London, this Friday night.
That portrait will feature on a tight drop of T-shirts and hoodies to accompany the book and exhibition launch. Other subjects include Idris Elba, Takashi Murakami, Skepta, Playboi Carti, Novelist, Lucien Clarke, and Ella Dror. There is also a portrait of Virgil Abloh and a small tribute at the front of the book, which will be stocked at Dover Street London and on the brand’s site.
