New Year's Eve partiers who want to avoid driving have extra transit options between New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia.

The biggest issue, besides avoiding the potential hangover, is how to get to the party, and back again.

NJ Transit, SEPTA, PATH and New York’s MTA are offering extra service. Both NJ Transit and the MTA have a beverage ban in place on Dec. 31 and New Year’s Day, that means no alcohol or non-alcoholic beverages are permitted on trains, buses, subways or light rail vehicles.trains will run on a regular weekend schedule, with additional service in the afternoon and evening on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley, Morris & Essex, Montclair-Boonton and Port Jervis Lines.

On the early morning of Jan. 1, additional late-night trains will operate on all rail lines except the Atlantic City Line. Extra trains will depart Penn Station New York, Hoboken and Trenton, with connecting trains leaving from Newark Broad Street, Summit and Long Branch through the early morning hours. Raritan Valley Line service operates from New York all night.
