Federal health officials urged people to stop using a brand of nonprescription eye drops that they said could be responsible for a spate of infections and at least one death.

At least 55 patients in 12 states have been diagnosed with multidrug-resistant bacterial infections possibly linked to EzriCare Artificial Tears, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday. The infections have caused one death, permanent vision loss and hospitalization, the CDC
