UPDATE: According to a press release issued Saturday, Fairbanks police arrested 42-year-old Matthew Myers, who is charged with first-degree murder for the Friday shooting in downtown Fairbanks.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A man has died and another is in custody following a shooting in downtown Fairbanks on Friday afternoon, according to a spokesperson for the city.that said Fairbanks police arrested 42-year-old Matthew Myers after receiving multiple reports of a shooting near First Avenue at approximately 2:25 p.m. Friday. The release stated that Myers was charged with first-degree murder.
“He took his gun out of his holster and shot the victim multiple times, aiming center mass, and continued to shoot,” the release states.
