Today's fair is a chance for Alaska families to pick up some school supplies, and hundreds of backpacks will be filled with supplies to give away.

A year ago, the Anchorage School District faced a bus driver shortage that resulted in a number of kids having to find their own way to school.

As we head into a new school year, the district is doing its part to make sure buses are staffed and there's not a repeat of the 2022 woes. The district said it needs 227 drivers to fulfill all of its routes, and currently have 223 ready with an additional 18 in training.
