The FBI stated in documents it believes an Iraqi man wanted to smuggle people into the country to assassinate George W. Bush.
- Court documents show the FBI is investigating an alleged plot to assassinate former President George W. Bush, according to multiple reports.Shihab Ahmed Shihab, an Iraqi national, entered the U.S. in September 2020, and the FBI requested a search warrant for his phone records.
The FBI foiled the plot through the use of confidential informants, CNN said. One informant reported that Shibab said he wanted to kill Bush because he blamed him for the deaths of many Iraqis and for “breaking apart the entire country.”
