The botanical garden's 'Imaginary Worlds' exhibit will bring 'living statues' to town.
"Imaginary Worlds," a new exhibit opening at the San Antonio Botanical Garden on May 6, will include several"living statues" created by Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montreal. The statues include a massive dragon made of plants that will tower 25 feet above the Lucile Halsell Conservatory, a mermaid in the Hill Country and a peacock in the Rose Garden.
"San Antonio is the perfect city to host Imaginary Worlds: Once Upon a Time," Ashley Colwell, marketing manager at the botanical garden, wrote in an email."This exhibition showcases the marriage between art and nature in the most unique, large-scale way." Colwell noted that the Garden believes the San Antonio community will appreciate the statues and the"tradition and rarity" of the art form. San Antonio Botanical Garden also hopes the statues will"awaken the inner child" in guests and give them a new, creative way to connect with nature.
Multiple events will take place centered on the statues of mythical creatures, including theater camps about Greek mythology and family gardening workshops. A
