Fire in San Benito County consumes nearly 300 acres

The Idria Fire ignited Wednesday morning on New Idria Road, near Idria.

SAN BENITO COUNTY – Crews on Wednesday night were battling a nearly 300-acre fire in southern San Benito County, according to Cal Fire.As of 8 p.m.

, the fire had charred 296 acres and was 20% contained, according to Cal Fire.Cal Fire is currently fighting across the state. The Rabbit Fire is the biggest at 8,283 acres, followed by the Reche Fire at 437 acres and the Gavilan Fire at 338 acres, all of which are burning in Riverside County.
