Fiserv, PayCore, Samsung, and Visa's new mPOS tool could improve business — but they'll need to make it as easy to use as possible to fend off potential competition
The collaboration sees First Data handle the settlement of a transaction through a mobile app, Samsung provide devices and security measures, and Visa enable contactless payments — and PayCore is now bringing EMV software to facilitate transactions.
An mPOS solution that can accept all kinds of contactless transactions without additional hardware could appeal to merchants, boosting the acceptance of noncash transactions in the process. If many small merchants adopt such an mPOS solution it would raise noncash acceptance and possibly noncash usage. Merchants around the world, particularly in emerging markets, are still POS terminals, so many sellers may still lack the ability to accept noncash payments.
