Young people who are already taking hormones or puberty blockers will be able to continue under an exemption in the rule that allows those who are already receiving these treatments to keep taking them. It's unclear whether young people will be able to get these therapies through clinical trials. The Board of Medicine voted against allowing non-surgical gender-affirming treatments in trials for research purposes, while the Board of Osteopathic Medicine voted in favor of it. The boards seemed uncertain as to how that would play out moving forward."developmentally appropriate care that is oriented toward understanding and appreciating the youth’s gender experience.
