Florida's medical board voted Friday to start the process of updating its rules for banning gender-affirming medical treatment for young people.
The board voted to approve gathering data and speaking with experts to build a standard of care.previously said treatments like puberty blockers and hormone therapy can create adverse health effects, including cardiovascular disease, infertility and risk of cancer.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' office and Florida DOH did not immediately respond to an Axios' request for comment.
