The arrival date depends on a variety of factors, including a recipient's Social Security number, last name, case number, or account number.Washington residents participating in SNAP must meet certain requirements. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or lawfully admitted residents who meet the five-year residency requirement for the state.

Approximately 18% of the population, or 310,900 people, receives food stamps in Washington. The average payment per household member each month is $168.A household of one can receive a maximum payment of $281 in SNAP benefits, a household of three can receive up to $740, and a household of five can receive a maximum of $1,116.

SNAP benefits can be used at participating grocery stores, farmer's markets, or some online retailers. The money is reloaded on to a recipient's electronic benefit transfer card, which is similar to a debit card.
