Current owner Justin McGrath flips storage units for a living, but these pieces of the Golden Gate Bridge are a little too big for a storage unit.

Justin McGrath of JW McGrath Auctions is selling two large pieces of the Golden Gate Bridge that he acquired in early 2023.have remained on a property in Penngrove, a small town in Sonoma County.

The trusses — one approximately 37 feet long and 15,000 pounds, the other approximately 19 feet long and 8,000 pounds — were originally purchased and transported to Penngrove when the Fort Point side of the Golden Gate Bridge was retrofittedJustin McGrath runs JW McGrath Auctions,in Sonoma County’s Rohnert Park. He’s also an avid collector of storage units. “‘Storage Wars’ is what I do for a living” is how he phrased his profession to SFGATE.

McGrath acquired the Golden Gate Bridge trusses, among a host of bridge memorabilia, about one and a half months ago at a lien auction on the Penngrove property, he said. The rest of the memorabilia actually went for significantly more; McGrath snagged everything else for something between $4,000 and $5,000, whereas the trusses were only $1,000, he said.

Two trusses from the Golden Gate Bridge, which have remained on a property in Penngrove, Calif., for two decades, are now on sale for $12,000.McGrath was able to quickly flip much of the Golden Gate Bridge memorabilia to a man who works with furniture. But the trusses have gone unpurchased since late February,
