Head on over to the United States Patent and Trademark Office's website, search"skyline," and—provided you're doing this sooner rather than later—click the first result. What should come up isfor"vehicles"—but instead of Nissan being listed as the owner, the Ford Motor Company is.
Okay, so browsing the USPTO's site isn't the most exciting activity, but it can be revealing, right? In this case, Ford's apparent ownership ofhere in America is neither. We don't know whether Ford is working on a Skyline of its own, or whether it simply grabbed the mark for ... some reason. For the record, a Ford spokesperson had only this to say:"We don't comment on trademark issues.
