The National Football League has fined former Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder $60 million after an investigation into allegations of misconduct and financial improprieties, the league said on Thursday after approving his sale of the team.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell appointed former chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Mary Jo White as independent investigator after allegations against Snyder made by former team employee Tiffani Johnston at a Congressional roundtable in 2022.
The NFL released a 23-page report that detailed the findings of White's investigation which accepted the claim that Snyder, without consent, put his hand on Johnston's thigh under a restaurant table at a work-related dinner. The investigators also concluded that the Commanders withheld about $11 million in revenue, and possibly more, that should have been shared with other NFL teams.
