BREAKING: Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter has been diagnosed with dementia.

Rosalynn Carter, wife to former President Jimmy Carter, will continue to"live happily at home with her husband, enjoying spring in Plains and visits with loved ones." The family announced in February that President Carter would spend"his remaining time" in hospice care.President Carter and Rosalynn Carter have been married for more than 75 years, making them the longest-married presidential couple in American history.

Rosalynn turned 95 years old in August, and she is the second-longest-lived former first lady in United States history. "Mrs. Carter has been the nation’s leading mental health advocate for much of her life. First in the Georgia Governor’s Mansion, then in the White House, and later at The Carter Center, she urged improved access to care and decreased stigma about issues surrounding mental health," the Carter family wrote in a statement."Mrs.
