Former Jersey City firefighter, aide to public safety director takes PTI deal in assault case
A former Jersey City firefighter and more recently a top aide to the public safety director has pleaded guilty in an incident in which a man’s jaw was broken and he will enter the Pre-Trial Intervention program, authorities said.were charged last October
Manzo and Fernandez, who also will be accepted into the Pre-Trial Intervention program when both are sentenced in December, admitted to third-degree aggravated assault, a spokeswoman for the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said. The plea agreement was first reported by Jersey City Times. Like the initial charges, news of the plea agreement was not announced by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office until a request to the prosecutor’s office was made.
, Manzo told police that he and Fernandez tackled the man they had accused of breaking into Fernandez’s vehicle earlier that day. Fernandez told police that the man tried to flee and Fernandez tripped him.
