The Texas home of former UT Austin standout and NFL safety Earl Thomas burned on Thursday, and officials suspect lightning sparked the blaze.

Currently a free agent, Thomas, 33, hasn’t played in the NFL since 2019. The Baltimore Ravens released Thomas from training camp for “personal conduct” in 2020 after he got into a fight with a teammate. Prior to that, he played nine seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, in that time making six Pro Bowls, five All-Pro teams and winning the Super Bowl. He was a core member of the team’s Legion of Doom defense.
The arrest warrant was issued in Austin, Texas. Police said Thomas violated a court order by sending threatening messages to a woman about her and her children, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
