Tanner Holden will return to Wright State, where he played his first three seasons of college basketball before transferring to Ohio State.
The Wheelersburg, Ohio, native averaged 16.1 points per game and 6.9 rebounds in 92 appearances for the Raiders from 2019-22. Holden put up 20.1 points per game during the 2021-22 campaign, during which he led Wright State to a Horizon League Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Holden scored 37 points to lead the Raiders to their first-ever NCAA Tournament win in a matchup against Bryant in the First Four, but following a loss to Arizona in the next contest, Holden entered the transfer portal. However, Holden saw fewer opportunities at Ohio State, averaging 3.6 points in 13.6 minutes per game across 27 appearances in 2022-23. Holden hit a game-winning 3-point buzzer-beater in Ohio State's Big Ten opener against Rutgers, but ultimately saw his role reduced dramatically over the course of a disappointing overall season for the Buckeyes.
