Baby Jameela and her mother failed to bond at the Fort Worth Zoo after she was born prematurely.
Jameela, the Fort Worth Zoo ’s baby gorilla, may have found her forever family more than 1,000 miles away after a successful introduction to a mother gorilla in Ohio . Jameela was born at the Fort Worth Zoo four to six weeks early in an emergency C-section, but her mother failed to bond with her for unknown reasons. The zoo attempted to introduce Jameela to their other female gorillas, but neither showed enough interest in caring for her.
