14 injured in drive-by shooting in Chicago
A crowd was gathered at the intersection of South California Avenue and West Polk Street in the Garfield Park area for a vigil when a vehicle drove by and opened fire, according to police. One person was struck by a car.The victims, some of whom were children, were transported to four area hospitals in various conditions, according to Tom Ahern, deputy director of news affairs and communications with the Chicago Police Department.

Multiple shots were fired from a passing vehicle. @Area4Detectives are investigating.The condition of the victims ranged from critical to non-life-threatening, and they were transported to area hospitals, including Stroger, Loyola, Northwestern, and Mt. Sinai, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said during a press conference.
Among the victims are a 3-year-old, an 11-year-old, and a 13-year-old. The other victims are adults, Brown said. According to Brown, pod video shows a vehicle driving by the incident location and opening fire randomly into the crowd.“It began, and it was over in about three seconds,” Brown said.There is no known motive or suspects at this time.
“They’re just young,” community activist Andrew Holmes said to WGN9 of the children shot during the incident. “They’re putting on an outfit just to enjoy the evening, and then you got a clown that goes and discharges that weapon, bringing great bodily harm to these families.”
