Fox News Channel dominated the prime-time rating race last week, scoring the network’s highest ratings since the 2016 presidential election
The news-packed week began with Sean Hannity’s pre-Super Bowl interview with President Donald Trump, followed by the disastrous start to the Democratic campaign to unseat the president, with Iowa unable to deliver results in its caucuses due to the failure of an election app. Sean Hannity’s show following the State of the Union ranked as one of the top ten programs in all of cable on the week....
The week also included Tuesday’s State of the Union address, which highlighted the deep division between Democrats and Republicans in Washington. Among total viewers, Fox News Channel delivered an average audience of 4.4 million viewers, more than double that of MSNBC, which finished in second place overall with 1.64 million viewers. CNN finished in third overall with an average total audience of 1.16 million viewers, according to ratings data compiled by Nielsen.
Among viewers 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers, Fox News led with 803,000 viewers, followed by CNN and MSNBC ., with an average total audience of 4.9 million viewers—the show’s best week ever—and more than enough to outpace MSNBC’sfor the 48th consecutive week. Maddow delivered a total audience of 2.8 million viewers., delivered audiences over 4 million viewers , both setting all-time weekly ratings records since show launch.
