Peter Doocy and Jen Psaki had their sharp public exchanges during media briefings, but in the past couple of days have spent time complimenting each other and even posing for a selfie together.
The public feud between the now outgoing White House press secretary Jen Psaki and Fox News reporter Peter Doocy has certainly been well documented.But on Friday, Psaki and Doocy took time to compliment each other as the press secretary prepared to leave her position.Christian Science Monitor event
, Psaki insisted that the duo have a “very good professional relationship” despite the frequent briefing room sparring. “I understand that he’s coming there to ask questions every day that are important to report and the outlet he works for, and I respect that, and we have healthy debates and discussions,” she said. “Doesn’t mean I agree with his line of questioning on most days. But I think that’s — I’ve called on him every day he’s been there or a Fox person, Jacqui [Heinrich], who’s been there a lot as well,” she added.
“It’s not just me asking questions. She would ask me questions right back. When I would go in there with something that was not part of the White House talking point for the day, she would ask me every single time ‘Who was saying that about us?’ or ‘Where are you getting that from?’” Doocy said. “And so I always had to have it ready right away, and I think that all that extra homework that I knew I had to do because, when I challenged her she would challenge me right back, probably has made me a better reporter,” he continued. “And so, I am grateful to her for that.”
