Famed French department store Galeries Lafayette is setting up shop in India.The retailer will open its doors in Mumbai and New Delhi through an exclusive partnership agreement with local fashion group Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd.

The store will carry more than 200 local and international brands, with personalized shopping, digital check-in and omnichannel connections to cater to the “Millennial luxury” customer.’s capital will open in the upscale DLF Emporio shopping center in a 60,000- square-foot space there.

“The Aditya Birla Group’s deep and nuanced understanding of the luxury landscape on the back of our portfolio of designer brands, combined with Galeries Lafayette’s global experience, will enable us to create a world-class destination for Indian consumers and global luxury brands,” he added.
